About Therapy

1045309381Life is full of challenges…

You would think that it is better just to avoid the problems.

But when you avoid the issues, they don’t go away. They impact your day-to-day life.

You feel unmotivated to start your day or walk on eggshells trying to please everyone and fix things for others.

You overthink things aiming for perfectionism or hold yourself responsible for others’ thoughts and emotions.

Not to mention you always put others ahead of yourself – it feels like you are living for others.

Undeserving… unimportant… this is what you think of yourself.

You don’t know how to cope with these problems, and whatever you have been trying isn’t making your life any better.

And coping isn’t always easy.

You feel confused and don’t want to burden others with your struggles.

It feels like things will never change.

I wish I didn’t feel so sad all the time.

Why can’t I stop worrying about the future?

I just feel helpless and stuck. How do I move forward?

2003674943 1I know what you’re looking for…

It’s enough!

It is time to start prioritizing yourself and treat yourself with compassion, feel grounded, and connect to your authentic self.

By being compassionate to yourself, you will target the inner self-critical talk that continues to hold you back.

You will look at your shortcomings with compassion and gain control over yourself by managing your emotions and not feeling distraught by them.

Through therapy, you can explore your strengths, have the confidence to voice your opinion, take control of your thoughts, and see a broader perspective.

This exploration and acceptance of self will make bring you internal serenity.

When there is inner peace within us…

It gives us the tranquility and strength we need to adapt and grow.

When you discover your values, prioritize your self-care, and regulate your thoughts and emotions, you will embrace your genuine self.

Change really is possible.

Change brings discomfort and provides an opportunity to be resilient.

By drawing from your inner strength, evoking self-compassion, maintaining a realistic perspective, focusing on what’s in your control, and checking your emotions, you can have inner peace!

“You can choose courage, or you can choose comfort,
but you cannot choose BOTH!”

About Me

About SyedaAs a woman of colour from a minority group…

… I can proudly say that my life has been full of challenges.

My philosophy in life is to focus on empowering myself.

Growing up in a culture that reinforced patriarchal values, I have navigated through my unique journey to create my identity and accepted myself with my successes and shortcomings.

Through this journey, I have realized that whatever comes my way, I can deal with it by maintaining my inner peace and relying on my strengths.

As a psychotherapist, I aim to help other individuals work through their vulnerabilities to focus on empowerment.

Some of my education and experience…

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology.

In my career, I have worked with adults struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, life transitions, grief, loss, and self-esteem issues.

I have worked in domestic violence agencies and mental health and addiction outpatient treatment centers. I have training in different modalities.

When I am not working…

I like to read. I also like to spend time with my family, spouse, and three beautiful daughters.

Go ahead and take that first step…

I’m ready to support you through this. Let me help you experience lasting change.
